Kolkata (28.06.11): Recent years witnessed a tremendous rise in public discourse on ‘Global Warming’ and related issues.  Given the gravity of situation , these discussion seems insignificant. A crisis that could wipe out all forms of life , needs much more attention and action.

On 28th June university students of Kolkata assembled at Jibanondo Sobha ghar to discuss the issue with experts on invitation of SIO, Kolkata.  Verses of Holy Quran that deals with environment were explained briefly by Prof Zafeer Ahmed. ‘Time has come to realise the double standards of West on this issue’ Shadab Masoom SIO city declared in his opening address.

Using a PPT , young researcher Probohan Chokroborty , explained the technical and scientific sides of the issue. ‘Islam has taught to plant a tree even if someone sees doomsday coming’ concluding his speech Shahnawaz Ali Raihan former National Secretary stated , He emphasised on the taking responsibility on individual level.

Summing up the conversation Muslim Personal Law Board member Dr Raisuddin urged youth and students to participate aggressively in Environmental issues.
