SIO demands the establishment of a full-fledged University in Murshidabad

SIO Murshidabad conducted a mega rally and students’ convention in Berhampore, Murshidabad, demanding the establishment of a full-fledged University in the region on 2nd November 2023.

Following continuous protests by SIO, the West Bengal government declared the establishment of Murshidabad University in 2018, which began functioning in 2021. However, even after three years, Murshidabad University still lacks permanent professors, exam controllers, and proper infrastructure.

SIO believes that, as Murshidabad is a minority-majority district, it has been overlooked by the government in terms of educational development. SIO’s demands include a separate campus for the University with adequate infrastructure and the appointment of permanent staff, including a stable VC and exam controllers who will serve their full tenure.

Brother Ramees EK (National President, SIO) addressed the gathering, along with Dr. Mashihur Rahman (State President, JIH West Bengal), Said BS Al Mamun (State President, SIO West Bengal). Abdul Wakil (State Secretary, SIO West Bengal), and Shamsul Alam (District President, JIH Murshidabad) were also present.
