SIO Maharashtra North Zone ran ‘Shiksha ka Hak Abhiyan’ from March 7 to 17 to create awareness among people about the RTE Act,  help people avail its benefits, ensure proper enforcement of the act and critically analyse the issues and challenges in its implementation.

The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act or Right to Education Act (RTE) is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted on 4 August 2009, which describes the modalities of the importance of free and compulsory education for children between the age of 6 to 14 years in India under Article 21A of the Indian Constitution.

SIO cadre across North Maharashtra and Vidarbha regions undertook a number of activities including around 1,735 door-to-door meetings, distribution of over one lakh pamphlets, around 72 corner meetings and erecting 32 banners and hoardings, managing to reach over 14,000 people. A consistent awareness campaign on social media resulted in more than 28,500 impressions. As many as 246 people registered for admission under the RTE Act during the course of the campaign.
