‘Unleashing Student Potential: SIO stresses on democratic environments for fostering holistic campus development’

The Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) hosted an Iftar meeting with student leaders at its headquarters in Okhla, New Delhi. The purpose of the gathering was to foster a sense of community among the students and to bring together student leaders from diverse backgrounds, creating a platform for dialogue and collaboration.

During the meeting, the student leaders discussed important issues related to the democratic environment in campuses, education, academic challenges, and campus environment, among others. They also shared their experiences and perspectives on promoting diversity, tolerance, and inclusivity in higher education institutions.

The event was attended by prominent students’ organisation leaders, student activists, and research scholars. The speakers emphasized the importance of dialogue, mutual respect, and understanding among students from different backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs.

Speaking on the occasion, Br. Ramees EK, President of the Students Islamic Organisation of India, said, “We believe that a democratic environment in campuses is crucial for the holistic development of students. By creating a platform for dialogue and collaboration, we hope to promote a culture of tolerance, inclusivity, and respect for diversity.” He then explained the importance of the holy month and how it serves as a time for spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and charitable giving.

The Iftar meeting was praised by the participants for providing an opportunity to engage with fellow students from diverse backgrounds and share their ideas and concerns. The event ended on a positive note, with the participants expressing their commitment to work together towards creating a democratic and inclusive environment on campuses.

“SIO is committed to promoting the values of democracy, inclusivity, and diversity in higher education institutions. The organization plans to continue organizing such events and initiatives to promote dialogue and collaboration among students,” added Imran Hossein, National Campus Secretary of SIO.
