SIO West Bengal condems the rape of student of Derozio Memorial College

The West Bengal chapter of the Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) expressed solidarity with the family of the 2nd year student of Derozio Memorial College, who was raped and murdered. SIO held a demonstration followed by a rally today at College Street. Mr. Masiur Rahaman, State President demanded due investigation and capital punishment to the rapists. He added that exemplary punishment should be given to the rapists. He also expressed grave concerns on the increasing rate of rapes across the country. As a solution, he states that, “besides providing exemplary punishment, the cause of such crimes must be identified and prevention measures should be taken”.

Abdullahil Kafi, State Secretary added that factors that ignite sexual thoughts such as obscene content in entertainment, alcohol and other intoxicants, etc. must be banned. Mohabbat Shaikh, former Campus Secretary said that Islam has shown no mercy on the rapists, it proposes Capital punishment to them.
