Bangalore , May 12: The Students’ Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) has called upon the community to form a coordination committee to look upon the ways to reassess, reform and refresh Madrasa system. The SIO Karnataka Zone on Monday released the findings of a year long survey conducted by the organisation on 29 residential madrasas offering education up to the graduation level.
However where there madrasas which needs immediate remedial measurements there also are some which generates hope and are worth emulating. Four of the 29 madrasas surveyed were described as ‘model madrasas’. These are Ziya-ul-uloom, Kandloor; Jamiya Islamiya, Bhatkal; Jamia-baithul-uloom, Sindgi and Houziya Ilmiya Bhakirul Uloom, Chickballapur. Mr. Ahmed said a collective effort from the Muslim community is needed to improve the system.
Earlier while releasing the report eminent educationist Dr. Niranjan Aradhya lauded the efforts and stressed the need for starting of reforms within the community in this regard. Muttehida Mahaz secretary Mr. S.M.Iqbal, Majlis-ul-Ulema convenor Maulana Waheeduddin Khan Umri, SIO Zonal secretary Saeed Kotwal and others were present.
