by | Jan 29, 2013

SIO successfully completed its Anti-tobacco and anti drug Campaign which lasted from 21st January to 27th January, 2013.

The objective of this campaign was to create awareness among the school going children about the harmful effects of cigarettes, tobacco and other drugs.
Seeing the rise in the usage of tobacco, cigarette and other drugs in our society especially in teenagers, we felt that if we can make aware children, then in the future, the use of such things in our society can be reduced.
India has the most mouth cancer patients in the world. 1 in every 5 men and 1 in every 20 women in India die due to tobacco related diseases.

We reached out to thousands of students. Lectures by doctors were organized in various schools as well as documentaries were shown to students to make them aware of such harmful things.

We also made the students take an oath that they would never use gutkha, tobacco, cigarette & other drugs and that they would also prevent others from doing so.

The response by the school authorities was very motivating and they praised SIO’s good initiative and promised to land support of any kind.
