SIO India - Workshop on North India Educational MovementStudents Islamic Organisation of India organized a one-day workshop on ‘North Indian Educational movement’ for North Indian state representatives of SIO, on 28th April 2013 at SIO Headquarters in New Delhi.

The program started with Inaugural words by Sarwar Hasan, General Secretary of SIO. He shed light on the objective and importance of the workshop and explained the details of the program. Omair Anas (Research scholar JNU and Former Central Advisory Council member of SIO) delivered a lecture on, ‘Socio-Political and Cultural scenario of North India’. He also delivered an important lecture, “Organizational challenges in North Indian states: How to resolve it’.

In conceptual session, Dr. Vikas Gupta, Associate Professor, University of Delhi and Central Committee member of All India Forum for Right to Education (AIFRTE) delivered a lecture on, ‘Issue and Challenges in Primary Education in North India’. Prof. Madhu Prasad, renowned educationist and former Professor Zakir Hussain College,University of Delhi interacted with the participants on the topic ‘North Indian Educational issue- An Overview’. In the technical session, Limseer Ali and Shariq Ansar, National Secretaries, SIO of India presented on the topics ‘Methods of Data Collection’ and Minority Education: Concern and Issues, respectively.

A directory on Scholarship information for North East Students released by National President Ashfaq ahmed in the presence of Sarwar Hasan, General Secretary, Sharique Ansar, Khaleeq Ahmed, Massiuzzama, Limseer Ali, and Mafikul Islam.

The National President of SIO, Ashfaq Ahmed, in the concluding speech said, “The situation of Northern India deserves special attention. Here is a need to move on from awareness campaigns, to work constantly and tirelessly in some areas, such that this continuous work becomes the foundation of a continuing change. This is also an organizational need for the development of organization. We have to create an atmosphere and start a struggle for all the backward sections of the country, particularly Muslims and start a continuous educational movement in the northern India.
