SIO West Bengal delegation meets Minorities Minister

Kolkata, Mar 11: A delegation headed by State President of SIO West Bengal, Mosiur Rahaman met Minister of State for Minority Affairs to discuss about the problems faced by students belonging to OBC category. Mr. Rahaman was accompanied by state secretaries, Abdullahil Kafi, Helaluddin Ahamed, Kamruj Jamal and Sujauddin Ahamed.

The delegation demanded that OBC students be given opportunities equal to SC and ST students. It made the following demands:

– Fees for various competitive examinations should be waived off for OBC applicants also.

– OBCs should be given due relaxation in marks as well as age during government job applications.

– Interest free loan should be provided to OBC students pursuing prospective courses.

– Process of obtaining OBC certificate should be made easy and faster, preferably within 60 days from the date of application.

The delegation also submitted a memorandum to the Minister. He assured that he will consider implementing the demands with due importance.
