Valentine day a symbol of commercialisation

Gujarat chapter of the Students Islamic Organisation of India organised demonstrations in Ahmedabad and Baroda against the commercial nature of Valentines’ Day. As part of this, around 12,000 leaflets were distributed in Ahmedabad, Baroda, Surat and Anand in order to create awareness among the masses, particularly the student community.

SIO appealed the students not be part of consumerism and adultery in the name of Valentine.  Addressing the media, Thoufiq Aslam, member of SIO said that friendship and love don’t require a day for expression. He strongly criticised the commercial exploitation of human emotions. He urged the student community to play a positive role in the reconstruction of society.
