Afzal Hussain Educational Award ‘12 – Chennai

26 Sep 12 – Chennai: For more than a decade, Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) Tamil Nadu zone has been  conducting  the Prestigious ‘Afzal Hussain Educational Award’ ceremony for the Excellence in Education, remembering one of the greatest educationist ever lived in India. The 2012 Award ceremony was conducted here at the Egmore Museum Theatre with great flavour. 

The program started with the recitation of Glorious Quran by Br. Muzammil followed by the English Translation by Br. Muzakkir. The SIO Chennai City President Br. Siraj Ul Hasan welcomed the guest and the gathering.

Br.Noorul Hasan , ZP SIO Tamil Nadu gave the presidential address. In his speech, he stressed upon the need for working together to tackle the problems of the society especially students community and enlightened the role of SIO.

The chief guest Padma Bhushan awardee Mr. Moosa Raza , Former Chief Secretary to Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir and Secretary to Govt. of India addressed the gathering . He shared his experience as an IAS officer and highlighted the need for Excellence in Education.

Moulavi Haneefa Manbayee, General Sec., JIH Tamil Nadu spoke about the purpose of Over-all education referring to the Quran and hadith.

The Human Rights Activist Dr. Ramu Manivannan, HOD- Dept. Of Politics and Public administration, University of Madras, featured the status of school education in Tamil Nadu and applauded ‘Education with Ethics and Compassion’. He requested the students to compensate the society for the delights got from it.

In the farewell speech, Dr. KVS Habeeb Mohammed, Vice President, Islamic Foundation Trust (IFT) gave four-point principle to the students viz., Excellence in Education, Discipline, Raising voice against social evils and Service. He insisted upon growing self and the nation simultaneously.

Momentos were given to the chief guests followed by felicitating the state-toppers in the X and XII exams held in March,2012.

Br. Syed Abuthahir , ZS SIO Tamil Nadu zone convened the whole program. Br. Peer Mohammed gave vote of thanks. More than 300 people attended the function.
