SIO GULBARGA CITY ORGANISED TAZKIYA PROGRAMME

Gulbarga chapter of the Students Islamic Organisation of India organised a full-night Tazkiya programme on 11 January 2014. The programme started with the discourse of Quran by Mazhar sb. It was followed by a debate on Reservation, with panelists Syed Hamid and Syed Umair Qadri speaking for the motion and Bilal Ahmed and Riyaz Patel speaking against the motion. The panelists presented their views with stats and logical reasoning. The debate was coordinated by Aamir Hashmi. It concluded with house voting overwhelmingly in favour of motion i.e., muslims need reservation for their upliftment.

Later, a paper was presented by Shoaib Faizan on “Islamic teachings on LGBT (lesbians, gay, bisexuals & transgenders) community”. He said that homosexuality is an unnatural act, which is considered a major sin in Islam. He also said that one should hate the sin and not the sinner. This was followed by a group discussion on “Teachings from various aspects of life of Prophet (S)”. It was coordinated by Abdul Mannan, PR Secretary of SIO Gulbarga.

The programme concluded with “Tazkeer” by Mohammed Maaz Salman Maniyar, City President of SIO Gulbarga. He laid stress on importance of developing collective atmosphere in the organisation, our homes and friend circles. He also advised cadre to focus on studying Quran, Hadees and life of Prophet M uhammad(S) with an intension of leading our lives in right direction.
