Artists in making: Maharashtra Fest

Aurangabad, Oct 1st: State level “Students’ Festival” was organized by Students Islamic Organization of India, Maharashtra, as part of its National level competitions bearing the caption “EXPLORING EDUTAINMENT COLORING CREATIVITY” – STUDENTS’ FESTIVAL – Kolkata (18-19th Oct. 2012). Students’ festival was organized to trigger the spirit of entertainment but also as a tool of opinion building. It is being organized, to promote dignity and Ethics as the basis of Edutainment, to strengthen the spirit of brotherhood, while promoting talents and skills and to harvest the spirit of healthy competition amongst students. 

Today in Aurangabad at Maulana Azad Research Centre, state level competitions of students’ festival were organized by SIO Maharashtra following the district and regional level competitions which includes Mumbai, Pune, Jalgaon, Akola and Nanded. Students’ Festival comprises of different on stage and off stage competitions including Poem recitation, Extempore Elocution, Mimicry, Mono Act, Drama, Street play, Mime, Poster making, Painting, Cartoon making, Drama script writing, Photography, Poem writing, Story writing, Film script writing, Short film making, Documentary making, etc. These competitions were basically for the students of all colleges.

The judging panel comprised of Dr. Burhanpurkar (HOD, Drama Department, Dr. B.A.M. University, Aurangabad), Mr. Feroz Pathan (Lecturer, Maulana Azad College, Aurangabad) and Mr. Moizur Rehman (Zonal President SIO Maharashtra South). The program started with Mumbai based Mr. Hamidullah’s recitation of Holy Quran. State Coordinator of Students’ Festival Mr. Ali Imran delivered the Inaugural address shooting off his way to the cultural events. Extraordinary performances were witnessed in Mono acting and Drama.

In Prize distribution ceremony Sayyed Saad was awarded 1st Prize in Poem & Extempore elocution, Aahir Kumar was awarded 1st Prize in Mono Act, In Mimicry Saquib Ghatte Awarded 1st Prizes. Street Play leaders were Bhatia College Mumbai, Glint Hostel Student Aurangabad was awarded 2nd Prize in Drama. while 1st Prize won by M.S College Mumbai. 

Program concluded with speech of Mr. Moizur Rahman. (President – SIO South Maharashtra),Br. Suhail Ameer (President- SIO North Maharashtra) also spoke on the occasion. The winners were awarded with Cash prizes worth 5000/-, 3000/- and 1500/-, Trophies and Certificates to all participants. It may be noted that the state level winners will be performing in the national level event to be held on 18-19th Oct. 2012 in Kolkata where the renowned international singer SAMI YUSUF will preside over as a chief guest.
