Tamil Nadu Fest : A Talent Manifestation

Chennai, Tamil Nadu: Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) Tamil Nadu zone successfully organised the State-level prelims of ‘STUDENTS FESTIVAL ‘12’ – Exploring Edutainment, Coloring Creativity – a mega event of national cultural competitions on September 26th at Egmore Museum theatre and the Indian Red-Cross Society, Chennai. 

It was a colourful day, when students from length and breadth of the Culturally vibrant state took part in the 7 on-stage events viz., Poem Recitation, Extempore Elocution, Mimicry, Mono Act, Drama, Street Play and Mime.

The program was inaugurated by Jb. S.N. Sikkandar, State President- Welfare Party of India, Tamil Nadu. He opined that the cultural events of SIO will inculcate morality and Social awareness among the students community. 

The cultural events reflected rich cultural heritage of Tamil Nadu especially when the Street-play and Drama were staged.

There was a tough competition among the students from Chennai and rest of Tamil Nadu. Some of the Eminent judges were Ms. Kavinmalar, Chief Reporter- Aanantha Vikatan, Mr. Riyas Ahamed , Sub-Editor and Reporter- Junior Vikatan, Mr. Aara, Executive Editor –Tamilaka Arasiyal, Mr. Nellai Bahrathi, Journalist, Mr. Anwar Saadath – Ass. Prof. Dept. of English, The New College and Mr.Shanawaz, Short-film maker.

The cultural delight came to an end with the Prize- distribution ceremony held by 6.30pm in the evening, where eminent personalities like Padma Bhushan awardee Mr. Moosa Raza, Dr. Ramu Manivannan, HOD- Dept. Of Politics and Public Administration, University of Madras, Dr. K.V.S. Habeeb mohammed, Vice Pres. Islamic Foundation Trust (IFT), Moulavi Haneefa Manbayee and SIO Zonal Pres. Br. Noorul Hassan gave away the prizes.

The State-level winners will compete at the National event on 18th and 19th of October at Kolkata.
