In order to address the issues of Indian society through Islamic perspectives and Islamic academic creative intervention into the academic discourse, Students Islamic Organization of India, one of the largest student organizations of India, is organizing extraordinary scholarly zeal India International Islamic Academic Conference. This two-day conference is being held at India Islamic Cultural Centre in New Delhi during 8thto 9th October. It offers a forum for academic exchange of knowledge and skills related to the broad field of prescribed themes. Over 210 abstracts were submitted from more than 10 countries. Delegates will have the opportunity to learn from extraordinary nationally and internationally acknowledged speakers via presentations including expert’s talk, panel discussions and paper presentations. The contribution of international presenters will enrich the program through enhancing the diversity of perspectives and the contents presented. All attendees will have an opportunity to learn from and with international contributors.
The conference is basically focusing the academic discourse under three themes Islamic Epistemology, Identity Formation: Nation State, Civil Society and Islam and Civilizational Discourses in the Light of Maqasid’al Shari’a. Islamic Epistemology will essentially cover four subjects- foundations of Islamic Epistemology, Engaging Epistemological Discourses, Placing context in Knowledge Tradition and Islamic Perspective on Research Methodology. Identity Formation: Nation State, Civil Society and Islam will cover various issues such as Nations Re-imagined: Issues of Citizenship, Nation and Nationalism: Exclusion and Inclusion, Categories of Discrimination: Race, Caste, Gender and Minority, Islamic Liberation Theology: Retrospect and Prospects and Recapitulating Debates: Ummah, Khilafah, Islamism Plurality and Nationhood. And under the theme Civilizational Discourse in the Light of Maqasid’al Sharia, Contemplation on law and Ethics, Developmental Ethics: an Islamic Perspective, Science and Technology: Philosophical and Practical Implications, Inclusive Economic Development and Contemporary Approaches to Islamic Jurisprudence will be key subjects.
Renowned Islamic Scholars and well-known academicians Syed Jalauddin Umri, Amir-e-Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Well-known Islamic scholar Moulana Salman Nadwi, Senior Journalist and Community leader Zafar-ul-Islam Khan, Shahi Imam of Fatehpuri Mosque Moulana Mufti Mukarram, JNU (Jawahar Lal Nehru University) professor Nivedita Menon, Dr. Eric Winkle, Professor Dietrich Reetz will address the conference and enlighten the attendees.
The conference received extraordinary response and extensive acknowledgment nationally and internationally. Papers from 20 national and international universities have been submitted for the conference. Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi University, Jamia Millia Islamia University, Aligarh Muslim University, Banaras Hindu University, IIT Mumbai and IIIT Delhi are some of prominent national universities from where the papers have been accepted. International Islamic University of Malaysia, Yildirim Beyazite University of Turkey, Azad University of Iran, University of Berlin and Ibnul Arabi foundation, USA are some of the international institutions and universities from where research papers have been accepted.
