Dont think Najeeb is a rare story, he is you and me : Nahas Mala (President, SIO of India)

Students Islamic Organisation of India along with Students of Jawaharlal Nehru University, social activists hold protest demonstration in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh in order to draw the attention of political parties towards the case of Najeeb Ahmed who mysteriously disappeared from his JNU hostel room here on 14th October last year, a day after scuffle with some members of ABVP, youth wing of the ruling BJP.

“All parties had promised to act on Najeeb’s case, but none is now raising it in the election campaigns. Why is it not an issue in Uttar Pradesh when a local youth (Najeeb hails from Badaun district in UP) has gone missing,” asked social activist in a protest.

The events are being organized at the call of Najeeb’s mother. Nahas Mala National President SIO, Er. Syed Azharuddin National Secretary SIO, Ehsaan ul Haq State President UP West, along with sitting JNU Students Union leaders including president Mohit Panday, Shahla Rashid, former AMU student union president Abdul Hafiz Gandhi,  participated in the demonstration.

In first week of November, students had held a mega event at JNU campus and it was attended by about a dozen political leaders including Arvind Kejriwal (Chief Minister of Delhi), Manish Sisodia (Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi), Prakash Karat (CPI-M Polit Bureau member), K.C. Tyagi (Rajya Sabha MP and JD-U leader), Congress leaders and former union ministers Mani Shankar Aiyar and Shashi Tharoor.

Family members of Najeeb had also met Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and sought their help.

#JusticeForNajeeb, his family and protection of Muslim students in universities SIO of India is running a nationwide campaign to collect 2.5 million signatures and will submit to National commission of Minorities and observing February 2017 as a “Month of Resistance”.
