Kolkata, July 12: Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) of India’s West Bengal chapter organized an Intellectuals Meet followed by Iftar Party today at Hotel Jingle Inn, Park Circus, Kolkata. Kolkata, Mar 11: A delegation headed by State President of SIO West Bengal, Mosiur Rahaman met Minister of State for Minority Affairs to discuss about the problems faced by students belonging to OBC category. Mr. Rahaman was accompanied by state secretaries, Abdullahil Kafi, Helaluddin Ahamed, Kamruj Jamal and Sujauddin Ahamed. SIO Tamaddun Shilpi Gosthi (Cultural Wing of SIO West Bengal) organised a Cultural Program at Barasat, North 24 Parganas. SIO Kolkata welcomes Supreme court’s verdict on Homosexuality

Kolkata chapter of the Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) organized a rally in support of Supreme Court’s verdict on Homosexuality. Students from various colleges of Kolkata gathered at Calcutta University raising slogans against homosexuality. While addressing the rally, SIO Kolkata President Shadab Masum said that SIO welcomes the judgment of Supreme Court wherein it has declared homosexuality illegal and a punishable offence. The apex court on Wednesday quashed the Delhi High Court verdict of 2009 which had decriminalized homosexuality.   Shibpur unit of Students Islamic Organisation of India Kolkata organised a 2-day workshop, “How to score better in Exams” for students of Madhyamic Pariksha (Xth Standard), in which around 170 students participated. Career Experts and Exam Evaluators guided the students and gave them useful tips. This was followed by an interactive session where students clarified their doubts.
