Yuva saathi round table organized on ‘Students manifesto for general election-2014’

Yuva Saathi Gujarati Monthly, an organ of SIO, Gujarat zone organized a round table discussion of students manifesto for general election 2014.

The discussion was participated by different intellectuals and educationists from different field viz. Prof. Amit Dave (visiting Faculty, Master of Journalism, Guj. Uni.), Prof. Maulin Munshi (Respondent, All India Radio), Mujahid Nafis (Member, Jan Adhikar Manch), Habib Shaikh (Senior Journalist, Guj. Samachar), and Arshad Hussain Shaikh (CAC Member, SIO Guj.) the discussion was coordinated by Dr. Farooque Memon (Zonal Secretary, SIO Guj.)

The discussion was covered by various issues like implementation of RTE, Recommendations of different commissions and govt. role in framing policies based on it, privatization and commercialization of education, lack of quality education, vacuum of moral teaching in education curriculum, annual expenditure on education by the govt. on education etc.

Panelist were presented their thought and shared suggestions panelists’ unanimous opinion was to implement Kothari commission recommendation, provide quality teachers along with suitable school infrastructure, expenditure on education must be 6% of GDP, and stop safforonization in curriculum.
