SIO (Students  Islamic  Organization of India) conducted a solidarity gathering and protest march under the title “STOP STATE SUPPORTED ETHNIC CLEANSING IN MYANMAR”on May 21,Thursday at Marine Drive,Cochin which was one of the first solidarity march to Rohingya Muslims by a student organisation in India.

The program was inaugurated by Human Right activist and Welfare Party of India leader Prema. G.Pisharody.”People of India,having the tradition of supporting downtrodden and oppressed people all over the world including Palestine, South Africa now is extending its support and solidarity to Rohingya Muslims” she said in her inaugural speech.

SIO Zonal Committee Member Amjad Ali.E.M. delivered the key note address. He asked the Indian Government to clear its policy on Rohingya issue as it had took lead role in forming Non -Alignment Movement and it is one of the neighbour countries of Myanmar. Sio Zonal Committee members Shefrin K.M,  Ashraf Kondotty,Girls Islamic Organisation(GIO) leader Aanisa. K. Muhiyudheen also addressed the gathering and extended their solidarity to Rohingya Muslims.

Earlier there was a Protest March which was led  by SIO Ernakulam District Secrataries Mufeed A.F. Shafeer, Shafeek Farooqi, C.Ahmed Faiz, Ishaq and District Committe Members Fuad Kochi, Naseeb Eranakulam, Asees Perumbavoor at Ernakulam city which ended at Marine Drive Kochi . More than  250 students participated in the protest march. A photo exhibition depicting the plight of Rohingyas was organized after the march which attracted a lots of people .

Renowned Human right activists and advocates of Kerala High Court Adv. Sivan Madathil, Adv. D. B Binu and many other dignitaries all over the state expressed their solidarity Rohingya Muslims and supported the campaigns of SIO regarding Rohingyas people.
