SMC 2012 Delhi | intellects in making

“In the era of study and research our youths must enrich their excellence and lead the academic discourse. They must evolve expertise in their particular field of study”, Maulana Jalaluddin Umri, Chief Patron, SIO and President, JIH. He was addressing in SIO’s Selected Members Camp-2012 in New Delhi. In his Zaade Raah, he advised delegates to empower their purification of soul and said “to strengthen our commitment for ultimate aim, spiritual development is essential.”

In the presidential address Mohd Azharuddin, President, SIO of India said, “Great vision is the first step for success. Successful students’ organisations work beyond their existence and establish themselves as the exigency of Students. We need to become the driving force and trend setter of students’ community for that we have to be ideologically sound, morally developed and create academic excellence”.

Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) organised Selected Members Camp (SMC) on 19-23 June, 2012 at JIH Conference hall, New Delhi. The program was started with tazkeer of Iqbal Mulla Sahab, Secretary JIH and inaugural words of PM Salih, Secretary General, SIO of India, in which he emphasized delegates to think innovative and out of box, he said the world is in transitional period, we must have vision for better tomorrow. It was followed by Dr. Rafat, JIH Secretary’s speech on ‘What is Ideology’. A symposium was organised on ‘Understanding Ideologies of Contemporary Age’. It was presided by Syed Sadatullah Hussaini with his expert comments. An important topic of ‘Role of Social Science in Social Reform’ dealt by Prof. A.K. Ramakrishnan, Chairperson, Centre for West Asian Studies, JNU delivered his talk. Syed Sadatullah Hussaini delivered a talk on ‘Islam an Ideology and beyond’.
Dr. SQR Ilyas, General Secretary, Welfare Party of India discussed on ’Debating Minorities in Indian Politics’ and ‘Socio-Political Engagement of Islamic Movement in India’ while PM Salih, Secretary General, SIO of India shared his view on ‘Experiment of Islamic Movement in Post Arab Spring’. Dr. Omair Anas, CAC Member, SIO delivered a speech on ‘Experiment of Modern Turkey and lesson for Islamic Movement’. In the post lunch session Chief Patron, SIO and President JIH interacted SMC delegates.
Third day of SMC was dedicated to educational issue. ‘Changing Dimensions of Indian Education Philosophy in last 20 years’ was discussed by Prof. Madhu Prasad, University of Delhi. Prof. Vikas Gupta, University of Delhi informed about ‘Reforms in Contemporary Indian Education’. Thouseef Medikeri presented a paper presentation on ‘Right to Education (RTE) and its Impact’. The book ‘Value Based Education in Global Perspective: Dr. Dhananjay Joshi’ reviewed by S Irshad, National Convener, Education Strategy Cell. In the second session Khan Yasir, CAC Member, SIO review Noam Chomsky’s ‘Ideology: An Introduction’ whereas Dr. Rafat, Secretary, JIH delivered a lecture on ‘Ideological Base of Islamic Movement’.
On the fourth day of SMC, social and media issues were discussed. Magsaysay Award Winner Activist Dr. Sandeep Pandey interacted on ‘Urbanisation in India’. He also presided a symposium on Gender, Development and Environment issues. In the post lunch session Ajit Sahi, Senior Journalist and Activist, delivered his talks on ‘Politics of Depiction in India’ and ‘Role of Social Media to shape the Social Movement’. Post dinner session A Cultural Night was organised for drama, art and cultural activities
On the last day Dr. Mohd Rafat delivered a lecture on ‘Tarbiya system of revolutionary Movement’. Reviewing dawah activities a panel discussion was held on ‘Analysing Our Dawah Approach’, co-ordinated by Shariq Ansar, National Secretary, SIO of India.  A symposium was conducted on ‘Visualising SIO in the next decade’ followed by expert comments of National President, Mohd Azharuddin.
In the concluding session National President, Mohd Azharuddin delivered presidential address. Chief Patron of SIO and President JIH, Maulana Jalaluddin Umri gave zaade raah to the delegates. Shoukath Ali, National Secretary and Coordinator of SMC thanked all participants, Chief Patron, National President, National Secretary and other office bearers of headquarters for making it successful.
