Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) actively participated and protested against the discrimination of SC/ST/OBC students during the process of admission in University of Delhi (DU). There were several irregularities in the process of admitting SC/ST/OBC students in DU; colleges were not properly implementing the policy of reservation in admissions. Students for Social Justice protested and organised a relay hunger strike, supported by SIO, Youth for Social Justice, All India Students Association and Krantikari Yuva Sangathan on 30th of July, 2012. Later on the issue had been solved; Delhi University on 31th July directed its colleges to ensure that they admit reserved category students in proportion with the actual intake of general candidates.
