Kolkata, July 12: Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) of India’s West Bengal chapter organized an Intellectuals Meet followed by Iftar Party today at Hotel Jingle Inn, Park Circus, Kolkata. The topic of discussion was “Social Reconstruction and Role of Intellectuals”. After the inaugural speech of Md. Mosiur Rahaman – State President of SIO, dignitaries from different parts of the city shared their views, analyzed the present role of intellectuals and tried to formulate the future course of actions to be taken up. Mr. Mashiur Rahaman, renowned former police officer spoke that Muslim ummah is running through a vacuum of intellectuals. Keeping local as well as international scenarios in view, he expressed that he does not see any personality who can lead and unite the ummah according to Seerat-al-Mustakim. Dr. Raisuddin, President of WPI West Bengal stated that the model for social reconstruction has to be prepared in the light of Islam. Prof. Saidur Rahaman of Aliah University emphasized on playing role as khaira ummah. Jb. Nuruddin Shah, President of JIH West Bengal concluded with an indication of doing something in practice besides taking part in discussion.
