KOLKATA : Today Students Islamic Organisation of India [SIO], West Bengal organised a demonstration ,at metro channel from 4 to 5 pm, demanding an immediate CBI probe over derailment of Howrah-Kurla Jnaneshwari Express . One of the worst train sabotage in recent history , it claimed lives of 148 passengers and left another two hundred severely injured.
The train suffered the cruel fate on 28 May 2010 as rail tracks were blown off using heavy duty explosives, the train got off the track around 1:20 am and then it got another fatal blow as a goods train collided with it coming from opposite direction. 76 passengers died even before rescue team could reach them, the toll reached 148 till last night and still counting.
Addressing the demonstration SIO , WB president Sarwar Hasan said “We express deep condolence and solidarity with the families of the deceased, and demand urgent investigation into the matter. The guilty should be punished without an excuse as nobody has right to take lives of the innocent.”
Khalid Khan PR Sec SIO WB demanded improved surveillance of railway track to protect the commuters from sabotage and accidents caused due natural wear and tear. Khurshid Alam, City President of SIO, Kolkata, conveyed the demonstration. Shadab Masoom , Ayatullah Faruk and other leaders of SIO also participated in the demonstration.
