“Cultural Anthropology’-An Interntional journal(USA), mentiones SIO-Campus alive

by | Apr 1, 2011

Ritty Lukose who is a professor in Anthropology in New York University ( whose article on a South Kerala campus was included in the book  Classmates  published by SIO in 2010)
has now published an article on youth culture, where the cover of Campus Alive, the Student Magazine run by SIO is featured.
While visited Delhi a couple of month ago, Ritty Lukose was on the lookout for material  on the new trends surrounding the campus as things were very different with very little presence of student movements like SIO and DSM (Dalit Student Movement) in the 90s when she did her research on campus.

For this she contacted Jenny Rowena, Writer and Professor of Delhi University (another contributor  to  “Classmates”)  who told her about Campus Alive and this is how she came to write about Campus Alive, which she feels helps  to understand the current trends and new discussions among the students in the campuses of contemporary Kerala.
Also she wondered about the Calicut based discussion group on “Secularism’  and  the discussion  on Talal Asad and Saba Mahmood etc

She is a student of many noted international scholars including Talal Asad and  also the colleague of Saba Mahmood,Charles Hirschkind ,David Scott etc.

Please click link to see the cover pics and hope, the full article will get soon.
