SIO Andhra Pradesh raises its voice against racist attacks in Australia

Warangal this week. The Students Islamic Organization organized a series of protests to express its solidarity with the victims and their kin.

Rally in Nizamabad: “stop racism” was the statement that that the banner emphatically made as the crowd behind it chanted anti racism slogans. Starting from the Students’ centre of SIO the sizeable group of students made way through Nehru park and Gandhi chowk (restating the non violent beliefs of these two leaders). The rally then proceeded to the local power centre, the collectorate ,where the students presented a memorandum to the DRO. This was followed by a media address.

Hyderabad follows: the sweltering heat notwithstanding, the students of SIO Hyderabad too turned out in large numbers at the Indira Park to voice their protest against the evils of racism. “Should I paint myself white?” was the scathing question on a placard held by a student aspiring for a university down under. The rally was addressed by Jb. Hamed Mohammed Khan Sb. The president of Movement for Peace and Justice. Br. Abdul Jabbar, speaking to NDTV on behalf of SIO demanded that the government improve the quantity and quality of universities in India which can prevent the brain drain and marginalization of India students on foreign shores.

Warangal wakes: the rally at Warangal too condemned the attacks on Indian students and also added a word about the recent spate of attack in USA. The event was used by SIO to reiterate that ultimate fact at the heart of Universal Brotherhood: that Humanity is descended from a single pair of man and woman.

The various activities were very well received by the local populace who joined in with their support. The media(Both Print & Electronic) too played its part in giving the issue the space it rightly deserves.
