“The student community should raise their voice for the demand of quality in education”, said Chairman of the Committee on Autonomy R. Madhava Menon. He was inaugurating a seminar on Kerala higher education and Autonomy conducted by SIO Kerala at Eranamkulam. He also added that a system of autonomous administration would be the only way to increase the quality of higher education.

Former Vice-chancellor of University of Calicut, KKN Kurupp said that change in the field of education can’t be brought about without solving the social imbalance in the education sector. P’O’J Lebba, MES State general secretary and Prof. C Pathmanabhan, State secretary of AKPCTA also participated in the seminar.

S Irshad, State President of SIO Kerala said that along with welcoming autonomous system the government should also pass strong laws. The seminar was followed by an interaction talk with Dr. V.N. Rajashekharan Pillai, Former Vice-chancellor of IGNOU on the topic, ‘Reorganizing parallel higher education in Kerala – challenges and prospects’.
