The West Bengal chapter of the Students Islamic Organization of India (SIO) in collaboration with Human Welfare Foundation (HWF), awarded 215 post-graduate students from various disciplines of social sciences today at Hajj House, Park Circus. Md Masud Alam, Regional Coordinator said in his inaugural speech that there are lot of organisations which offer scholarships to students from technical/professional background. However, HWF choose the students from social sciences background (such as MBA, Rural Development, Social Work, Political Science, Law, Hospital Management, B.Ed., Disaster Management, etc.) as they play an important role in building a healthy society. Distinguished guests addressed the gathering.
Md Nooruddin,State President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind said that students must excel academically as well as Islamically. Mosiur Rahaman, State President of SIO West Bengal said that besides providing scholarship, SIO offers various programs beneficial for students, such as guidance on examination preparation, education and career guidance camps. He further said that SIO is working for balanced as well as all-round development of students. Intaj Ali Shah, Chairman of the Minority Commission, Govt. of West Bengal gave an inspiring talk. Ayub Tirur, Project Engineer of Human Welfare Foundation handed over the cheques.
