SIO Tamil Nadu organized a protest on 21st of September against the state government to stop the ongoing commercialization and privatization of education. The protesters demanded the state government to implement the ‘Right to Education Act’ without damaging the prospects of the backward and poor people in getting quality education.
SIO Tamil Nadu criticized the state govt. for going forward with 20% reservation in the private schools for poor students, which hypothetically may result in decreased number of govt.schools in future.
The protesters also demanded the govt. to improve the infrastructure facilities in schools such as benches, play grounds and toilets. Some of the other issues like ‘The All pass scheme’ at schools till IX std and functioning of State-run TASMAC Wine shops nearby schools and colleges were also condemned.
This protest was attended by all the unit presidents of Tamil Nadu and coimbatore cadres .Br. Abu Thahir, Zonal Prsident, SIO Tamil Nadu CAC member Br. Noorul hasan and Coimbatore city president Br. Shabbir voiced their concerns.
