NEW DELHI: 31/05/2010 The National Secretariat of Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack of Israel on Gaza Aid Ship carrying aid to the war affected zone and demanded the Israeli government to stop its terrorist activities soon as possible. In a condolence message from Istanbul, SIO President Suhail KK said it's really inhuman to kill 16 unarmed people by open fire while activists in the Freedom Flotilla were from non-violent groups like Free Gaza Movement or Turks. He also appealed all the peace loving nations, organisations to create pressure on Israel to stop all these inhumane practices which are barbaric and brutal.Israel is not allowing humanitarian aid into Gaza but only about 15,000 tonnes per week which is according to United Nations less than a quarter of what is needed.Countries must play active role in re-building war affected Gaza.
SIO believes Israel's continued violation of human rights is not possible without US support. In the Nehruvian era India was strong supporter of Palestinian freedom movement but now ignoring Mahatma Gandhi''s pro-Palestine policy, present Indian Government repeatedly failed to convey it's reactions in the strongest terms to Israel after any attacks on Palestine. SIO is also worried about the growing politico-military Indo-Israel nexuses.

NEW DELHI 14/03/10 : SIO National Secretariat expressed concern over insufficient allocation of funds in Education Sector in the Union Budget 2010.
The education sector was promised a public spending of six per cent of GDP, but the actual spending on the sector remains almost half of the promised amount. There is a need for greater allocation for education sector especially after Implementation of Right to Education Bill which will require an expenditure of Rs 1,72,000 crore over the next five years. But only Rs 31,036 crore allocated for school education but it will be highly insufficient to deliver quality education based on principles of equity and non-discrimination to a target population as large as 15 crore..Union Budget 2010-2011 has failed to deliver in education sector allocation. Education was declared to be given great focus by the UPA government. We demand from government to stop experimenting and pursuing immature policies of market based delivery system for education as well. Any such policies will be highly resisted as they compromise the very principles of quality, equitable and non-discriminatory education for all that they proclaim to instil.
New Delhi 14/04/10: National Secretariat of Students Islamic Organization of India (SIO) expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned Islamic scholar Dr Israr Ahmad. The demise of such an outstanding scholar is a great loss particularly for the Islamic activism of our times. Dr Israr Ahmed shall be long remembered for his life long effort to invite young generation towards Islam through his brilliant interpretations of the Holy Qur’an. His Dars-e-Qur’an guided many lives towards true spirit of Islam as in his young days he was guided and trained by great Islamic Scholar Maulana Syed Abul Ala Maududi. His services as scholar as well as preacher of Islam would always be remembered. May Allah Almighty shower his blessings on the departed soul and give courage and fortitude to his family members and associates of his organization Tanzim-e-Islami, to bear this irreparable loss with equanimity (Ameen).
New Delhi-16/03/10: The foreign university bill passed in the cabinet is apprehensive, expressed the National Secretariat of SIO. The HRD Minister Kapil Sibal views that the bill if passed in parliament would be a revolution larger than the one in the telecom sector. This statement itself shows that the bill will be a green signal for tough competitions in the ‘education industry’ to earn large profits. The biggest problem faced by the Indian society is that higher education is reachable only for those who fall in the right hands of economic affordability and so a large section of Indian society has been marginalised. The bill if implemented will only help to intensify the current state of affairs. Commercialization of education had ruined many Indians and replaced talents by “capitation fee”. SIO also is apprehensive of the invasion of western culture, ethics and values along with the western universities.
It is condemnable that all the recent bills tabled in parliament are controversial, without proper discussions and debates and that fulfils imperial and elite agenda, which includes bill on nuclear liability bill, (GM) seeds bill and the foreign university bill. It clearly reveals the attitude of slavery of UPA government to United States. It is quiet apprehensive that since Kapil Sibal took charge of HRD Ministry, many crucial decisions with regard to education were taken all of a sudden, without any democratic means of debates and discussions amongst the public. SIO National Secretariat said in the statement that the bills related to education to be tabled in parliament - Educational tribunal bill, Accreditation bill, Prohibition of Unfair Practices in Technical, Medical Educational Institutions and of course allowing the setting up of foreign universities bill should not be nod without proper discussions and debates.
