Najm-Ad-Din Arbakan Remembered at SIO Headquarters

The Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) organized a condolence programme to remember Najm-Ad-Din Arbakan and his contributions to the modern Islamic Turkey at the Abu Lais Hall, SIO Headquarters, New Delhi. Speaking at the occasion Mohd. Azharuddin, National President, SIO condoled the death of Najm-Ad-Din Arbakan and said that the world had lost one of the greatest contemporary political thinkers and ideologue of political Islam. The world has lost a wealth of the era, he added.

Suhail K.K., Former National President, SIO expressed that to understand the works of Ustad Arbakan, one must also acquainted with the socio-political conditions of the 20th century Turkey. Dr. Mujeeb Alam, Asst. Prof. – Academy of Third World Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia introduced Najm-Ad-Din Arbakan’s life and his political works in details to the audience. Omair Anas, Member – CAC, SIO & Research Scholar at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi reiterated that Ustad Arbakan was a bold political leader and an example for the modern political activists. S.Q.R. Ilyas, Secretary, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind expressed grief and loss at the death of the veteran political activist who, he said, played a key role in the revivalism of modern Islamic Turkey. He prayed for the departed soul.

Sharique Ansar, National Secretary, SIO convened the programme and Abdul Haq Falahi, Asst. Secretary, JIH concluded the programme with special prayers for Najm-Ad-Din Arbakan.
