Mohd. Azharuddin Elected as New SIO National President

New Delhi 18/12/2010 ‘Don’t just exist, but be productive so that the society benefits form you’, called the newly elected President of Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO), Mohammed Azharuddin at his first address after being elected. Amidst slogans and enthusiasm the new leadership of SIO was elected by the electorate consisting of Zonal Advisory Council Members and Zonal Representatives from across the country. Mohammed Azharuddin (MA, M.Phil in Economics) from Maharashtra is elected President of SIO for the term 2011-12.

Addressing the gathering in Aurangabad after his election as SIO National President, he proclaimed that, SIO is the only students’ organization that declares its ideology by virtue of its name. He called upon the cadre to strengthen them intellectually to fight against the cultural & civilization attacks and to focus on self-development.

Aligning the way forward for the new leadership, the present President of SIO, Suhail K.K. shared his vision with the gathering. He said SIO has progressed in a linear manner and it now has to leap forward to greater heights. He reiterated that, SIO should work on a larger spectrum to reach new heights not just in India but across the world.

The Chief Patron of SIO, Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari, President, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind congratulated and boost the morale of the leaders and cadre present. He said, in a world where ‘Eat, drink & merry’ is the slogan for life, a group of youth dare to present an alternative way of life in this world. He urged that the cadre of SIO struggles to get deep knowledge of various civilizations and ideologies alongwith a deeper understanding of Islam to be able to distinguish themselves from the other. He encouraged them to build an ideal character that will be a witness itself to the message and ideology that SIO presents.

The election process was held at Al-Irfan Campus, Khuldabad, Aurangabad from 27-30 November. The electorate also elected the Central Advisory Council (CAC) of SIO. The 15 member CAC consists of Shibli Arsalan, Bihar; Shahanawaz Ali Raihan, Delhi; Omair Anas, Delhi; Khan Yasir, Delhi; Ansar Aboobacker, Aligarh; Syed Musab Iqbal, Bangalore; Shoukat Ali, Karnataka; Mohammed Bilal, Karnataka; Mujahidul Islam, Karnataka; Syed Arif Ali, Rajasthan; Atif Ismail, Andhra Pradesh; Syed Sibgatullah Hussaini, Andhra Pradesh; Fazlur Rehman, Andhra Pradesh; P.K. Sadiq, Kerala and Ashhar Waheed, Tamilnadu.

The Central Secretariat of SIO appointed for the term 2011-12 will consist of P.M. Salih, Kerala as General Secretary; Shoukat Ali,(Karnataka) as Secretary, Campus; Arshad Hussain, (Gujarat) as Secretary- Organisation; Sharique Ansar, (Jharkhand) as Secretary-Expansion and Shaikh Shoaib, (Goa) as Secretary-Public Relation.
