by | Aug 19, 2017

Nahas Mala, President SIO of India have denounced the Roopanwala Commission Report which inquired into the suicide of Rohit Vemula ,a research scholar from HCU. Citing the report of establishing false allegations , he said that the commission proved to be another tool to nullify the reality of the discrimination’s and assaults Rohit faced that eventually led to suicide. The report has no mention of the political influence over the issue, MLA N Ramachander Rao, along with hundreds of his supporters threaten the VC to take action against ASA ,of which Rohith was a member.”The report also ignored the communications of Union Ministers Smriti Irani, Bandaru Dattathreya that eventually led to the suspension of students including Rohith.”The Commission didn’t take any efforts to bring out the truth even after giving adequate time.” he added.
Nahas Mala also asked the student community to stand against the efforts to curb voices of dissent in the Central Universities including HCU. He was referring to the new recommendations to New Education Policy that asks to ban cast and religion based organisations in campuses. Backing the recommendations, which was refused by central government to ban any student organizations, then there is no point of sighting the TSR Subramaniam recommendations to ban organisations like ASA and SIO. He added that any such efforts will be dealt with mass protests and asked Y.Sudhkar Reddy professor of HCU to get updated on proposed document on NEP.
