Conquer Your Dreams (AAO KE CHHOO LEN KHWABO KO) -Mumabi

Fest was organized at M. H. Saboo Siddique College , Byculla Mumbai from 8th – 10th January 2010. Approximately 10,000 students from Urdu & Marathi medium schools received guidance during this three day long venture.

 

Renowned personalities were part of the Inaugural Session which started at 3:30 pm on 8th Jan 2010. Chief Guest Dr. Bhalchandra Mungekar (Ex- Vice Chancellor: Mumbai University & Member, Planning Commission of India) shared information on the percentage of Muslims in civil services. Dr. Zahir I. Kazi (President- Anjuman-i-Islam) presided over the inaugural Function on the first day of the Fest. Mr. M.M. Ansari (Chief Information Commissioner of India) was the guest of honor. Mr. S.R. Waghode ( Ex- Dy. Director – Education Maharashtra) & Mrs. Alka Borade (Dy. Director – Education (Incharge), M.S.) were special guests,

 

The second session was full of information and motivation. Mr. Moin Don(Reg. Dir. (Asia Pacific) – Johnson & Johnson) delivered a lecture on _______________and Mr. Gaffar Shaikh(Director – Maulana Azad Fin. Dev. Corp., Govt. of Maharashtra) introduced various educational loans & scholarships by Government and other NGO’s. Career quiz & Drama were also organized for the students.

 

A Parallel Session for Media, NGO’s, Teachers & Parents in the form of a Panel Discussion on “Changing scenario of Education & Role of Media” was conducted from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. This session was anchored by Prof. Arif Kalim Usmani(Career Counselor)and the panelist were Dr. Bhalchandra Mungekar, Mr. Abhay Mokashi(Sr. Journalist), Mr. P.K. Ravindranath(Vetnery Journalist), Mr. Shubhash Shirke ( IBN-Lokmat),Prof. Sanjay Ranade ( H.O.D. – Mass Media Dept., Univ. Of Mumbai) and Mr. Shahid Latif ( Chief Editor- Inquilab Urdu Daily).

 

Second Day started of with a workshop conducted by Mr. Ahmed Parkar Jaam on “Entrepreneurship Development” in the morning session and Two Parallel workshops were conducted in the afternoon session on “Management Studies” by Prof. M. Hanif Lakdawala & Prof. Nadeem Merchant . & on “Civil Services” by Mr. Zafar Iqbal ( Ex- IAS & PMO Sec.), Mr. Mohammed Owais (CEO- Haj Committee of India) and Prof. S.A.M. Hashmi(Dir. Civil Services Coaching & Guidance Cell, Haj House, Mumbai).

 

Lecture series on second day started at 10:30 a.m. Some of them were Prof. Maroof Bashir (Prin. Bandra Jr. College). about “Career in Marine Life” and Mr. Shafee career at sea. Adv. Shahid Azmi (Advocate, High Court) on “Career in Law”. Mr. Yusuf Syed (Head-Derivatives structuring& FI sales, Financial Markets, ING Vysya Bank) about “career in Banking & Finance”. Mr. Suhas Kadam( career Counselor) gave the about “Career in Army/Navy/Air force”.

 

Mr. Nilesh Shinde – Ph.D. student of Dr. Gautam Gawali ( Ph.d. Guide, Univ. of Mumbai) delivered a lecture on the topic “Personality traits to select a career”.

 

Dr. Sajid Ali Khan ( Psychiatrist) gave lecture on “Special Children & their identification”. Panel Discussion on “Role of Parents & Teachers in selection of a Career” from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm was anchored by Prof. Arif Kalim Usmani and the Panelists were Mr. Haroon Mozawala(Gen. Sec. Khair-e-ummat Trust),Mr. Siddique Qureshi ( Social activist),Maulana Ghulam Mohd. Wastanvi (Raeesul Jamiya Ishatul Uloom, Akkal Kuwan), Mr. Rashid Jung(Educationist) and Mr. S.M. Mohsin(President- Ideal Academy Trust).

 

Evening Talk Show: with Role Models: Professionals from various fields participated in the talk show It was an interactive between the professionals and the students. Mr. Kazim Malik & Mr. Amir Ansari hosted the talk show- with 10 role models. The role models were. Mr. Aslam Khan (CEO-Octaware Technologies Ltd.), Mr.Luqman(M.B.A), Mr.Syed Arshad (Asst. Surveyor – Indian Register of Shipping, IIT Powai-Mumbai), Adv. Mubin H. Solkar (Advocate, High Court), Mr.Zaeem Mirza (Ad. Manager ISOBAR, Google), Dr.Zainul Abedin Hamdule(Cardiologist- Breach Candy Hospital), Mr. Shoaib Ahmed(Correspondent- CNN-IBN).

 

3rd day started with a lecture by Hafiz Ejaz Akhtar (C.A.) on “Career in C.A./C.S./ICWAI/C.F.A.” and “Courses of SNDT Women’s University” by Dr. Asha Patil(Asst. Prof. SNDT Univ., Mumbai)., Mr. Ghulam Arif Khan (Sr. Manager, Kobra extrusiontechnik Ltd.) gave an interactive lecture on “Enhancing Employability”.

 

A workshop on “Mass Communication & Media” conducted by Mr. Ketan Vaidya (Media Manager, U.S. Consulate), Dr. Mangesh Karandikar(HOD- Media Dept., Uni. Of Mumbai), Ms. Jyoti Punwani(Sr. Journalist) & Mr. Abhishek Sharma(NDTV).

 

Evening Talk Show: with Role Models : This time the Role models were Hafiz Ejaz Akhtar (C.A.), Miss Shabnam Sirguroh(Pilot-Jetairways), Maulana Danish(Web Designer), Mr. Wasim Khot (Trainee Pilot), Mr. Ghulam Arif Khan ( Sr. Manager- KOLSITE Group), Major Amir Iqbal(Ex- Army man), Miss Tehseen Khatri ( C.S.), Prof. Nahid(M.B.A.), Prof. Aliya Bari ( Biotechnologist)

 

Career Exhibition: A career exhibition was organised in which details of around 25 different upcoming fields were displayed in the form of Printed charts having information about scope of the course, eligibility criteria, & name of the institutes

 

In the Concluding session of the career fest 2010 Dr. M.A. Baseer (Ph.D. Guide, SRTMU,Nanded) spoke on “Career in Science & Research”. Prof. Najmuddin(Sr. Career Counselor & Lecturer, Millia College, Beed) gave the concluding speech on the theme “Conquer Your Dreams”.

SIO counter @ Career Fest 2010: The counter of SIO was one of its kind explaining the students importance of career , the real meaning of career , careerism and role of students in society, Various members of Mumbai division had interactions with the students and invited them to be a part of the journey of SIO.

 

Chalta Phirta Imperialism Model: SIO is organisng a campaign “Students Voice for a Just World”. In order to explain the concept a live model was prepared which can be seen in the photo, which was walking among the students depicting the evils of Imperialism and its impact in the society, education and environment.
