  Kolkata: “Due to low quality of education, students are losing their responsibility and social awareness. Students have social responsibility,” said All India President of SIO Ashfaque Ahmed in a press conference at Kolkata Press Club on 9th December, 2013. SIO demanded that students should stop any kind of political interfere and election should follow Lyngdoh Commission recommendation (2005). The unicode version of SIO’s monthly Urdu organ Rafeeq-e-Manzil in Urdu was launched by National President Ashfaq Ahmed Shareef on 6th October during the organisation’s Central Advisory Council (CAC) session in New Delhi. The Rafeeq’s Android application was launched by Dr.Atif Ismail, CAC member. The Magazine’s Editor Abul ala Subhani and Manager Shahid Khan were present on the occasion apart from all members of the CAC. The magazine was established much before the inception of SIO and was renamed ‘Rafeeq-e-Manzil’ in 1986 and has been a source of guidance and inspiration for students and youth since then. The Online protest against coup in Egypt jointly organised by SIO and Egypt Solidarity Forum reached a whopping 1 Lakh accounts on 31st August 2013. More than 6500 people marked their support against the coup on Facebook. A first of it’s kind, the online protest saw people from across the globe raising their voice against the military coup and the massacre that followed in Egypt.
