The Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) has accused the State and Central governments of trying to scuttle the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) campus proposed at Malappuram. A meeting of the SIO secretariat here on Monday criticised the stand of MPs and Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor on the EFLU issue, especially as the State government had handed over the land to EFLU authorities about a year ago. Volunteers ‘leave’ students in the lurch: TOI

HYDERABAD: Lakhs of children in the state are being denied their right to education as schools are closing down due to lack of teachers, said members of the Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO). The students’ organisation said that 42,000 Vidya volunteers who were part of the teaching staff at state-run schools have been shunted out, resulting in the closing of hundreds of schools in the state.   Student groups of English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad demanded a CBI and CAG investigation into alleged financial irregularities of Sunaina Singh, vice-chancellor, ELFU and Syed Sayeed, nodal officer, EFLU.
