Beemapalli Firing A Racial Democracy  SIO Malappuram Book-talk

Tirur (17/5/13, Friday): Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) Malappuram district committee conducted Book Talk and Documentary Screening on the occasion of 4th Remembrance Day of Beemapalli Police firing which had taken off life of six people on 17th May 2009, under the title of ‘Reading and Vision against Collective Amnesia’ in Sangamam Residency here in Tirur. The book talk was on the book titled ‘Beemapalli Police Vediveppu Marakkunnathum Orkkunnathum’ (Beemapalli Police Firing Forgotten And Remembered) edited by K. Ashraf and the documentary of K. Hashir ‘May 17 Beemapalli a Counter Story’ was screened.

The program was chaired by K.K Mohamed Ashraf, District President of SIO Malappuram. “It is duty of a dedicated students’ movement like SIO to struggle for any type of injustice and human rights violation of common people. The Beemapalli incident was cruelly neglected by government as well as media” said K.K Mohamed Ashraf.

The discussion was moderated by Sadik P.K. former member of Central Advisory Council (CAC) of SIO of India. “The mentality of politicians, government and media towards this cruel firing is indeed horror and it proves the existing racial democracy in our country” said Sadik. K.S. Sudeep, Assistant Professor, NIT Calicut; V. Ganeshan, President Welfare Party Tirur Taluk; K.S. Shameer, writer and K. Hashir documentary director were participated in the discussion.
