AFZAL HUSSAIN EDUCATIONAL AWARD-2011: TN

Student’s Islamic Organization of India (SIO), Tamil Nadu Zone organized Afzal Hussain award 2011 at Chennai, to honor the top performers in the state 10th and 12th examinations. The award ceremony held in remembrance of Maulana Afzal Hussain, who dedicated his life to the cause of education and values, was graced by key personalities in the field of education. An Inter-School competition was also conducted, where students from different schools in the city competed in various competitions such as speech, drawing, quiz, creative writing, logical reasoning and essay competition.
Brother Abu Tahir, Zonal Secretary of SIO Tamil Nadu, gave an introduction on Maulana Afzal Hussain, his sacrifice and contribution to the cause of value based education, and requested the gathering of students to derive learning and motivation from his life.

Speaking on the occasion, Padmashree Dr. Ahmed Ali stressed on the importance of women education and need for research in various fields. He requested the young gathering to give special attention to the advice of their parents, as it often turned out to be the best advice.
Mr A.Afzal, Chairman, Parveen Travels, motivated the students to take up challenges and work hard with a clear vision on their goals and objectives. This according to him was a key recipe for success.
Mr. Devasagayam, I.A.S, Retd Chairman, Electricity Board of Haryana, requested the students to analyze and understand the issues pertaining to the society, and be active in voicing their sound opinion on these subjects.  They need to play a bigger role in the society, and not be caught in the web of consumerism and materialistic thought.

Brother Noorul Hasan, Zonal President, SIO Tamil Nadu, delivered the Presidential address, and discussed on the problems prevalent in the campus and educational system at large. He requested the students to participate in solving these issues. He also discussed on SIO’s concept of Creative Campus.

Janab Shabeer Ahmed, Ameer-e-Halqa, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Tamilnadu, stressed on the need for fundamental research and excellence in education.  Janab S.N.Sikkandar, President, Welfare Party of India Tamil Nadu, stressed on the need of activism among students, who have a major role in reforming the society in all fields, including politics.

Brother Sirajul Hasan, SIO Chennai President, Janab K.Jalaludeen, President, Islamic Foundation Trust, Janab Mohammed Khalid, Treasurer, Welfare Party of India, also participated.

Prizes were distributed to the meritorious students and competition winners.
